FLY Lamp is one of our own design creations which is also included in the García Requejo’s bespoke and ready to order illumination pieces collection. The designer Natalia Guzman Cortes was in charge of the design and creation of this piece, inspired by nature and the act of flying. Its final shape conceptually reflects a bird taking flight with its wings open.
This luminaire is intended to be placed repeatedly in different heights as a composition creating a LED Lamps constellation suspended. One of the original highlights of this luminaire is its delicate light, which together with its curved shape, replicated several times, generates a special effect on the spaces where it is placed.
FLY is composed of two parallel blades leaving enough space between them to house a dimmable LED light. Its dimmer light is located on the two side surfaces and the more intense light is right in the middle of the lamp.
The FLY lamp is designed to be able to create multiple compositions, creating modern and sophisticated atmospheres. The top half part of each piece opens outward recreating a similar shape to a wing, while an acrylic coating hides the inner workings of the lamp creating an organic lines silhouette. This piece created by Cortes for García Requejo has received several international awards in the category of Pendant Lamp for its design. She is actually experimenting with other materials, such as wood and acrylic instead of metal, and analyzing how to incorporate smart technology so that the light can be controlled from a mobile device.
The FLY lamp is made up of simple lines, making it a surprisingly minimalist design with a very modern look. It is a contemporary version of pendant illumination intended to be arranged as a single lamp in the home or as part of a suspended collection at different heights in commercial environments. We combine tradition and technological innovation in elegant designs, and FLY is a good example of that. Due to its original design this creation has been awarded at the LIT Awards and the IDA Awards.
