In recent years, a more minimalist lifestyle in touch with nature has begun to be introduced into our society. Returning to the original and slowing down climate change have become a way of life that affects how we consume, eat, play and also, decorate.
Then the modern organic style in decoration emerges. This style pursues a harmony between nature and habitats and aims to incorporate home with natural resources to create a balanced composition.
Her major refection is on architecture, arising in the 30’s and 1940’s, inspired by functionalism. Some of the architects who represent this typical movement are Frank Lloyd Wright, Erik Gunnar Asplund, Alvar Aalto and Hugo Häring.
But how does this movement impact our interior design?
As we described above, we are assuming that nature is the protagonist, and indeed it is. It tries to provide natural light and natural or recycled materials, preferably indigenous, to create relaxed and comfortable spaces. In case of artificial light being necessary, we can turn to materials and colors that could mix and match the rest of the decorative elements.
Practicality prevails over a mere ornament. The design of this furniture stands out because of its clean lines in rustic style. It is furniture without extra bells and whistles, made from untreated materials, although natural fibers such as bamboo or rattan match quite well this style.
Of course, decorating with plants is essential. They give a fresh and natural touch that we also find in their colors, which usually helps to enhance light. So white, beige, green, lavender or light yellow are the most suitable shades.
What do you think of the modern organic style? Will you include it in your designs?
