2020 has just begun, and every architect and designer is looking for the latest trends. A new year means a fresh start and it’s also the perfect time to revamp the decoration. So, keep reading, and see what are our favourite 2020 decorating trends.
Floral Wallpaper.
If the thought of flower-power wallpaper makes you remember your grandmother’s house, then 2020 might just be the year you change your opinion. You will see it everywhere, but with a much more modern update. Large scale, bold colour, and even metallic versions are here to stay.
Beige and blue.
Neutral colours will be in once again this upcoming year. And we are not surprised, because beige is a white with cool or warm undertones. Other trends to expect include deep, bold tones like navy and hunter green, more natural wood in furniture, décor and cabinetry, and a movement toward more colour in general. The 2020 Pantone Colour of the year is Classic Blue, and we are so excited because it is a totally versatile and sophisticated colour.
Ecological materials.
Modern architecture is aimed at sustainability and environmentalism. It is more than a passing trend; it is a lifestyle. In our homes, we find spaces combined with nature, in which relaxing and disconnecting from the routine is becoming easier and easier. This year we will welcome materials such as cork, esparto grass or wood, that must be integrated in an aesthetic but also functional way. These three materials provide a wide scope in the field of decoration, and are perfect to get back to nature.
Sculptural lamps.
For 2020, the hottest trend in anything related with lighting is glass! Especially for the big and curvilinear lamps. Rounded, sinuous shapes that generate a sense of movement, dynamism and vitality inspired by the Art Deco are the perfect choice.
Velvet.
Velvet is fast becoming a stronghold in interior design schemes all over the world. And while it’s usually a material associated with glam style interiors, we’re seeing velvet break out of the box and make a name for itself across styles like modern, rustic, and even minimal. If you want to hop on the velvet train, sofas and armchairs are a great place to start. Balance out the glam side of velvet by incorporating natural materials like rustic woods, jute or rattan.
Metals.
Metals like silver, gold, tin, and copper are still the decoration kings.
The mixed metal decor trend will also be pretty popular. Silver and brown metals will work well together, like iron and gold or bronze. Be careful not to mix more than three metals in one space, or your decor could become way too busy and overwhelming for one room.
